Small particles, but a major effect
The drinking water often has to travel a long way to get to you. Unwanted particles can often be carried along by this process, for instance when incrustations and deposits break away from the inner pipe walls, or when the water is contaminated by earth or sand particles as a result of work on the public supply system.
Pitting corrosion – a much-underestimated danger
In unprotected installations consisting of metal pipes (galvanised steel, copper ...), foreign particles can cause localised corrosion or pitting. This can lead to pipe ruptures, even without advance warning by brown water.
